John Lester Martin, 77, of Newark, passed away with his loving wife at his side on Monday, April 29, 2024. He was born November 7, 1946 in Massillon, OH to the late Lester and Margaret (Baer) Martin.

John was president of his class at Fairless High School in Navarre, OH. He earned a Master's degree in Ceramic Engineering from The Ohio State University. He retired from Owens Corning Tech Center after 29 years. He was active in the Land of Legends Barbershop Chorus and volunteered his time at Hospice of Central Ohio, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and as a church elder. He enjoyed golfing, vacations to the beach, being a chocolate connoisseur and rooting for the Buckeyes and Cleveland sports teams. Most importantly he loved his family and will be forever remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and Papa.

John is survived by his wife of 30 years, Beth; daughter, Carrie (Thomas "Corby" Wise) Martin; son, Michael (Bethanee) Martin; grandchildren, Harlan Wise, Zachary Martin, Benjamin Martin and James Martin; sisters, Carol (Joe) Orin and Sue (Harry) Hildebrand; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to Hospice of Central Ohio and/or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Licking County.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 from 4-6 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where a memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm.
