John Elsworth McConnell, 74, of Newark, passed away on March 12, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1950, to the late Robert E. and Virginia (McGee) McConnell. John will be greatly missed by all his family.

John was a man of vast knowledge, sharing his insights on a wide range of subjects, including history, musicians, actors, and events involving family and friends. He had a passion for unique plants, particularly the various cacti he proudly nurtured. John worked at Owens Corning for 44 years before retiring as a Furnace Operator.

John is survived by his daughter, Laura Cassanos; grandchildren RaeAnn, Danielle, and John Cassanos. He is also survived by his siblings: Terry (Teresa), Joe (Nancy), Jean McConnell, and Melissa (Tony) Sforza; sister-in-law Kathy McConnell; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert E., Jr., and Larry McConnell, and sister Karen Kirk; wife, Jennie Mae.

Family and friends will celebrate John's life on Saturday, March 15 (his mother's birthday), with an hour of visitation from 11:00 am- 12:00 pm at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark followed by a graveside service at the Lutheran Cemetery on Linnville Road.
