John P. Raftery

John P. Raftery, 61, of Newark, passed away April 20, 2026, at his residence. He was born July 5, 1964, in Salem, Oregon, to Johanna (Skinner) Hall and the late D. Richard Raftery.

John was surrounded by a wide circle of friends who were an essential part of his life. He had a deep love for cars and could often be found sharing that passion with others. Known for his generous spirit, John was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His vibrant personality and sense of humor made him the life of every gathering, and he will be remembered for the joy and energy he brought to those around him.

In addition to his mother, Johanna (Frank) Hall, he is survived by his children, Joshua (Justin Grubb) Raftery and Nicole (James) Raftery-Moerman; grandson, Griffin Moerman; brother, Mark (Lisa) Raftery; sister, Kathy (Tad) Ford; mother of his children, Teri Ford, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Bryan and Doug Raftery.
