John Edward Reid left this world peacefully in his home on June 12, 2025. Surrounded by his loving family, in his hometown of Newark Ohio, at the age of 77.

A cherished father, grandfather, nephew and cousin, a devoted friend and compassionate soul. John's presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

Born on September 12, 1947, John was predeceased by his parents, the late Jean Reid Mercer,Bill Mercer, (step-father) and father Jim Reid, Marge Reid, (step-mother), grandmother Dorothy Citrone, two uncles (Fred and Bill Citrone) and an aunt (Joann Citrone).

Raised in Newark, he grew up surrounded by family, close friends and classmates....many who shared his love of golf and many memorable and happy times. John loved dogs and his beloved Licia was always close-by. He attended St Francis de Sales elementary and junior high and Newark Catholic High School, graduating in 1966. He served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War starting in 1967. When he returned home in 1970, he was employed as a lineman for AEP Electric Power until his retirement.

John is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Rocky and Joella Reid of Newark and Craig and Kelly Reid of Maryville, Tennessee; grandchildren; Dylan, Justin, James, Caiden, Ashlyn, Hannah, Zach (Shyann) and great grandson Owen; an aunt,
Sandra Citrone Urquhart(Robert) of Santa Barbara California; cousin, Carol Citrone Hawker (Greg) of Circleville and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burial services will be co-ordinated by Brucker & Kishler in Newark. Per John's request, attendance will be limited to family only.
However, a celebration of his life will be held at the Sons and Daughters of Italy on September 6th, 2025 Time to be determined at a later date.

May he rest in eternal peace. He will remain forever in our hearts.
