Obituary

John B. Szymczak, 87, of Stoutsville, Ohio, formerly of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 20, 1938, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Joe and Henrietta Szymczak.

John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. A man of deep faith, he was a member of the Church of God in Circleville and a former member of Newark Living Hope Community Church in St. Louisville.

John had a lifelong passion for music and was a gifted musician who could play many instruments, including the piano, bass guitar, trumpet, concertina, and saxophone. He found great joy in sharing his musical talents with others. Above all, John cherished his time reading the Scriptures and studying his Bible, which guided his life with steadfast devotion and grace.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise "Susie"; children, Debbie (Brad) Pritchard, John (Rebecca) Szymczak, Mike (Lisa) Szymczak, Dan (Kim) Szymczak, Ron (Holly) Szymczak and Amy (Norm) Ream; grandchildren, Amanda, Cassandra, Zowie, Marlie, Grant, Lauren, Zach, Allie, Tabatha (Noah), Krista, Lynzi, Sierra (Ethan) Warner, Hannah Jo Creech, Carley Creech, Michel (Sara) Woogerd, Reed (Caylah) Woogerd and Tyler (Andrea) Woogerd; great grandchildren, Jayne, Cayden, Oliver, Braxton, Evelyn, Monroe, Desmond, Hollyn, Sullivan,  Wrenlee, Eden, Lilah, Julian and Addison; brother, Melvin (Barbara) Szymczak; and sister-in-law, Peggy Holly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, David and Jerry Szymczak.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to Heartland Hospice.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 3-5 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm with Pastors Keith Williams and Devon Anderson officiating.
