Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen "Kathy" King on January 24, 2025, at the age of 67.  Kathy was born on October 29, 1957, to the late James and Emily Keating. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose love and spirit will live on in all who knew her.

Kathy's family was the center of her world. She was a devoted wife to Tony King, and together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Kathy's pride and joy were her three daughters, Angela Lyon (Zak), Ashley Shaw (Scott), and Amanda Bevan (Ryan). She adored her six grandchildren, Zoe McFadden, Izabella and Jaxon Lyon, and Kaiden, Korbin, and Gracelynn Shaw. She dearly loved all her family in Minnesota and filled in the gaps between in-person visits with frequent calls sharing the latest events in their lives, provide emotional support, sing Happy Birthday or exchange meows. Kathy loved her cats and was always on the lookout for a cute kitten video on her phone.

Kathy's unique personality was evident in everything she did—whether it was her dedication to QVC shopping, her famous French braid or her passion for all things sweet as a self-proclaimed dessert connoisseur. She loved to laugh and found joy in her sparkly fashion.  When Kathy was around, everything around her became a little more vibrant.

Kathy was also deeply devoted to her faith, her God-loving spirit providing guidance and comfort to those fortunate enough to be in her life. She had a seemingly endless supply of love and caring for her loved ones and people who were suffering. Whether you were family or a close friend, Kathy's heart was a place of support and care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Emily Keating, her brothers Dennis and Jimmy Keating, her sister Linda Hoffbeck and husband Phillip Hoffbeck, and her son Brent Hoffbeck.  Father-In-Law Harvey King, Mother-In-Law Beth King, Sister-In-Law Peggy Brake (Mike).

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Tony, daughters Angela, Ashley, and Amanda, six grandchildren, as well as her sisters Carol Anderson (Randy) and Mary Gronlund (Russ), nieces, nephews, and her beloved cats Joy, Lightning and Snowball.

She has gained her wings, and though she will be missed more than words can express, we take comfort in knowing she's in the arms of those who went before her.  We would like to thank her care team at The James for taking such good care of her over the past year.
