Leontine E. Smith

9-1-1932 - 9-24-2026

Leontine Smith went to her eternal home on 9-24-2026 with her daughter by her side.

Leontine lived life to its fullest and her greatest joy was being with her family, working Jigsaw puzzles with Mindy, playing crazy eights, and 500 Rum (which she always won!) and reading Cowboy Romances.

At one time she was an avid bowler in the league, a brownie leader for Mindy, a cub scout leader for Randy and had the love of her life Johnny Lee by her side for it all. She lost her one true love in 1984 to lung cancer. Also preceding her in death was her son Randy L. Smith, and Rudy J. Smith, her sister Jacqueline Bonham, her brother Charles "Tick" Purks, her brother-in-law James Bonham and her mother and father Eunice Vera Purks and Charles Arthur Purks.

Leontine loved the Lord and was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church. She served in the Stephen ministry and participated in many church activities.

Her words to live by was always be kind, treat others like you want to be treated and don't Judge a person until you have walked around in their shoes

She is survived by a daughter, Mindy (Smith) Peddicord of her home; grandsons Johhny Lee (Amber Nordike) Peddicord of Waterloo, IL. Matthew David Peddicord of Heath, OH, Anthony (Christina) Smith, and Steven (Janet) Smith, granddaughters, Johnnie Lynn Smith, Adreena Pritchard, and Kristina Houser; great granddaughters, Tanis Elowyn Peddicord of Waterloo. IL, and Nissan Peddicord of Columbus, and a much-loved bonus great grandson Owen Brooks of Waterloo, IL.

There will be no calling hours for Leontine per her request, but a Remembrance / Memorial ceremony will be observed at a later date.

Our thanks to Hospice for their love and wonderful care during moms last 2 years.
