Marc Atkinson died peacefully on Friday, January 23rd, with his son Eric by his side. Marc was a few months shy of his 98th birthday.

Born May 5, 1928, as the third of four boys growing up on a farm outside Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Marc valued the lessons of hard work and responsibility country life afforded him. In his early 20's he and his new wife Dorothy moved to Ohio when family members on his mother's side convinced him of opportunities in Licking County. Marc found employment as an inspection supervisor with Rockwell International where he worked for 30 years until retirement. He enjoyed his work and loved to tell stories of all the friends he made during that time.

Marc and Dorothy began a family with the birth of son Alan, followed by Gayla, Eric and Hallie. In addition to his full time job he built and bought and sold numerous houses, invested in antique cars, and had a stable of horses for his children. His final family home was built in Granville where he lived for the last 55 years of his life. Soft-spoken but gregarious, the home was often filled with friends and family from around the country. Marc and Dorothy frequently visited the Mt. Vernon area, and after retirement traveled by RV around the country.

Marc will be greatly missed by those surviving him; brother, Don; children, Alan (Judy), Gayla's children, Kelly (Craig), Tracy (Robert), Shane (Beth), son, Eric (Ivy); their children, Brittany (Matthew), Alyssa and Felicia and daughter, Hallie (Evan), as well as great grandchildren, Austin (Ciara), Jacob, Ashlyn, Hannah, Zach (Shyann), Tyler, Jordan, Angel, Grant, Carleigh and great great grandson, Owen. In addition more nieces, nephews, cousins and their families than can be listed.

Marc was confident that he would be reunited with his beloved wife, Dorothy; daughter, Gayla; mother, Hallie who was taken when he was 8; father, Pearl; brother's, Evertt and Percy and all of his ancestors he so honored.
