Mark H. Applegate

Military honors for Mark H. Applegate, 82, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, followed by an Elks service, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Mark passed away October 30, 2025, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born July 18, 1943, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Wayne E. and Eleanor E. (Haverfield) Applegate.

Mark was a proud United States Army veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. He loved riding his motorcycle and working on puzzles while watching classic John Wayne movies. A devoted sports fan, he cheered faithfully for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Cubs, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Mark enjoyed tinkering and taking on fixer-upper projects around the house. Mark was also a dedicated member of his community, belonging to the Elks, Moose, VFW, and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Tricia L. (Atskoff) Applegate; daughters, Jennifer (Dan Blevins) Galiher, Nicole (Doug) Wheeler, and Chelsea (Zack) Biggs; grandchildren, Tyler, Jayden, Michael (Alex), Natalie, Gracyn, and Elisha; great-grandchildren, Dean, Dawson, and Weston; nieces, Amy and Carrie; five great-nephews; sister-in-law, Myrtle Applegate, and special friends, Les and Julie Bell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Applegate.
