Obituary

Mark made his way home to be with Jesus on August 18, 2026. He valiantly fought lung disease for 5 years. His heart and mind were sharp, his body exhausted.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, Dixie for 55 years. Their devotion and enduring love is a testament to commitment and loyalty.

Mark was a graduate of Wellston High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio University in 1973.

He was a successful insurance executive working his way up from an agent to Regional Director. He enjoyed golf, trap shooting, politics, and trading stocks. He would like to be remembered as an entrepreneur and businessman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Phyllis Douglas; his sister, Lorrie Clary; and in-laws, Richard and Betty King

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dixie; daughters, Stacey (Chad) Bigony and Leea (Scott) Bryan; grandchildren, Cannon, Ella, Aiden and Audrey; his sister Debbie(Terry) Timmons; 14 nieces and nephews, many friends, colleagues and shooting buddies.

Mark left a lasting impression on so many people. His story telling abilities will be left unmatched. His life has left an imprint on all of us.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 21, 2026 from 11:30- 2:30 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm with Pastor Wes Humble officiating. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
