Marlene Delores (Miskimen) Jones, 93, of Newark, died Saturday, September 27, 2026 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center. She was born September 17, 1933 in Cambridge, Ohio to the late Carl and Laura (Wells) Miskimen.

Marlene was a longtime and devoted member of Family of Faith Community Church, where she had been a cherished part of the congregation since 1973. She had a deep love for music and singing, sharing her beautiful voice as a member of the Crystal City Chorus for more than 20 years. She found joy in the simple things in life, especially watching the birds, with cardinals holding a special place in her heart. A devoted fan, Marlene loved cheering on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Guardians. Above all, she treasured her family and cherished every moment spent with those she loved.

She is survived by her children, Keith Alan Jones, Terri LaVigne and Vicki (Chris) Vargus; grandchildren, Josh (Casey) LaVigne, Jon Porter, Jason Gargus, Jason (Chrissy) Porter, Jamie (Ryan Lehberger) LaVigne and Erica (Felix Jackson) Gargus; five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Rita (Bill) Winder and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Jones Jr.; son-in-law, Kirk LaVigne; grandson, Tyler Gargus; and brothers, Gary and James Miskimen.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 2-4 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Pastor Curtis Martin officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 5, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens in North Canton, OH.
