Brush
Dec 31, 1928 — Aug 7, 2025
Newark
Martha Louise Brush, age 96 of Newark, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Columbus, OH on December 31, 1928, to the late George and Doris (McComb) Morris. Since her father worked for the railroad, it enabled her to have many fond childhood memories of taking the train on family vacations to California and other states. Martha was a graduate of Central High School, Columbus, and after graduation worked at Ohio Bell in downtown Columbus. She married David Brush on January 27, 1954, and they had three children. She became a full-time homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Martha was very hospitable and opened her home to host many get-togethers with family and friends. Martha's life was marked by an unwavering faith in God. She was a devoted member of Christian Apostolic Church Newark. In their early 70's, she and her husband relocated to Heath Ohio and enjoyed many visits with the grandchildren and trips with the church senior group.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne and John Morris; sisters, Betty Creamer and Esther Paynter; son, David Brush, and son-in-law, Raymond Clark.
Martha will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Beverly Clark; son, Paul (Martha) Brush; grandchildren, Geron (Kathryn) Brush, Rachel Brush, Andrew Clark; great-grandchildren, Emma and Logan Brush; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12 at Christian Apostolic Church, 22 N. 23rd Street, Newark, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. G. Keith Sjostrand will be officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Columbus on Wednesday, at 1 p.m..
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Hearth Brook Assisted Living, Arlington Care Center, Heartland Hospice, and Premier Home Health Newark for the loving and compassionate care they provided.
