Mary L. Burris

A memorial service for Mary L. Burris, 87, of Johnstown, OH, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home with Chaplain Brian Humphreys officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, OH.

Mary passed away August 8, 2026, at Johnstown Pointe. She was born February 28, 1939, in Vinton County, OH, to the late Samuel E. and Florence M. (Graham) Lowery.

Mary retired from Technical Rubber. She loved vacationing in Florida and looked forward to enjoying the sunshine, making memories, and simply having a good time. Mary had a wonderful personality and a zest for life that brought joy to those around her. Mary made many dear friends during her time at Johnstown Pointe, where she especially enjoyed playing Bingo. She cherished the friendships she made there and the many good times they shared.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Smothers; son, David (Karen) Burris; brother, Melvin Lowery; sister-in-law, Connie Lowery; grandchildren, Deborah Smothers, Brandy (Chris) Middlemus, Timothy Ramsey, and David Burris, II; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Burris; sister, Bonnie Lowery; brothers, John Lowery and Sam Lowery, and son-in-law, James Smothers.
