Mary Evelyn Farley, 97, of Newark, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center. She was born May 15, 1927 in Newark to the late Henry and Bertha (Rice) Emerson.

Mary graduated from Newark High School class of 1945. She was an avid sports fan. She played on the basketball and volleyball teams while in school and loved to dance. Mary started her work career as a mail clerk for the Pharis Tire and Rubber Company and later at Park National Bank. She then went to work as a packer for White-Westinghouse and retired after 30 years. During her free time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, playing Bingo, going to garage sales and loved spending time with her family and pets.

She is survived by her children, Randy Farley and Cheryl (Mike) Oberfield; grandchildren, Jennifer (Wayne) Hamilton, Matthew (Lesley) Farley, Alicia (Evan Brown) Gayheart, Gregory (Samantha) Oberfield and Courtney (Nick) Williams; great grandchildren, Adrienne, Haiden, Addison, Alexander, Claira, Rosie, Eleanor, Benjamin, Gabriel and Elizabeth; sister, Naomi Muir; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred "Bud" Farley; daughter, Marquita Farley; brothers, Leonard, Richard and Dale Emerson; and sisters-in-law, Pauline (Ralph) Wilkins and Anabelle Ellis.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary to Hospice of Central Ohio and/or Humane Society of Licking County.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
