Maxine E. Michael, 85, formerly the owner of Peck Real Estate in Newark, died Friday, May 8, 2026 at Majestic Care of New Lexington. She was born February 2, 1941 in Utica, OH to the late Clay and Wava (DeVore) Farquhar.

Maxine was a real estate broker whose dedication and work ethic were evident in all she did. She also spent time on the road as a cross-country semi-truck driver, embracing the adventure and independence that came with the open highway. A faithful Jehovah’s Witness, Maxine lived her life guided by her deep faith. She found great joy in caring for her cats and tending to her beautiful flower garden, where she felt most at peace.

She is survived by her husband, John Michael; son, James (Chantell) Peck; step children, Terri, Tamara and Ed; grandchildren, Debra Kay (Jeff) Johnson, Jesse Bricker and Mandy Green and Clayton Peck; great grandchildren, Apple Green, Joey Johnson, Jesse Bricker Jr. and Mileena Bricker; great great grandchildren, Anna Bricker, Jesse Bricker III, Addilyn Bricker, Everleigh Bricker and Elaina Bricker; brother, Jack (Karen) Farquhar; nephews, Mike Farquhar and Travis Perry; niece, Stacey (Mike) Farquhar; great nephew, Tyler Farquhar; great niece, Brandy Farquhar; great great nephew, Maverick Farquhar; and brothers-in-law, Ken (Karen) Peters and Gary (Mary) Perry,

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debrah E. Green; son, Randy Green; sister, Edith Farquhar; and brother, Ronnie Farquhar.

Friends can gather Friday, May 22, 2026 from 12-2 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.
