Michael A. Hancock, 65 of Newark passed away on June 13, 2025. He was born on March 8, 1960 in Newark, OH to Barbara A. (Stromsness) and the late Larry L. Hancock.

Mike was a member of the Christian Apostolic Church. He worked at Rockwell/Meritor before recently retiring from Ariel Corporation. He had a deep love for music, whether that meant going to concerts or picking out songs on his own guitar. He was also fascinated with antiques and when he saw some old gadget he liked he'd exclaim, "That's tough!" His wit was unmatched. It was impossible to be around him and not laugh at his one-of-a-kind sense of humor. But by far his greatest pride was his four sons and ten grandchildren.  All he talked about for retirement was having more time to spend with them.

In addition to his mother, Barbara; he is survived by his sons, M. Shane (Ann) Hancock, Jarred (Tabitha) Hancock, Levi (Jennifer) Hancock and Nick (Brianna) Hancock; grandchildren, Alyssa (Jacob) Collins, Zane, Ragon, Jett, Adley, McKinley, Roman, Joy, Albany and Brilyn Hancock; fiancée, Mary Spires; sister, Tammy (Mike) Britton; friend and former wife, Gaynell Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Hancock.

A funeral service will be held at 5pm on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Christian Apostolic Church, 22 N. 23rd St., Newark with Pastor Keith Sjostrand officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5pm prior to the service.
