Michael Stewart Anders, age 63, of Newark, passed away at his home Sunday, February 11, 2024. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 21, 1960, to Linda (King) and the late William Anders.

After graduating from Sheridan High School, Michael enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served aboard the USS Eisenhower. During his 10 years of service he was awarded several accommodations including, the Battle Efficiency Award, the Navy Unit Commendation Award, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Michael enjoyed boating, fishing, NASCAR, and rooting for the Cleveland Browns.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Beth (Francis) Anders; children, Michael (Dawn) Anders, Tanya (Jon) Zinewicz, Amanda (Philip Whitt) Anders, Michelle Athey, and Megan (Mark) Welch; Sisters, Debbie (Randy) Grubb and Michele Arnold; several grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Frank (Michelle) Hanson.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lora Gorsuch.

Michael's family would like to extend a special thanks to the VA and Capital City Hospice for their wonderful care.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.
