Michael Lee "Mike" Barclay, 82, of Newark, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Newark Rehabilitation. He was born December 11, 1942, in Newark to the late Leland and Dorothy (Weiss) Barclay.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Mike devoted his life to his family and the simple joys he loved most. He especially treasured time on the golf course with his family, hunting and fishing alongside his son and granddaughter, and playing countless games of cards around the table. Known for his sweet tooth, Mike never turned down ice cream—a love he happily passed on to his grandchildren. He also enjoyed western movies, TV shows, and books, which provided him with many hours of relaxation and joy.

Mike is survived by his son, Jeff (Tricia) Barclay; daughter-in-law, Karen Barclay; grandchildren, Dustin Barclay, Sharree Harris, Kendall Burgoon, and Kara (Matthew) Moyer; eleven great-grandchildren, with one more soon to arrive; brother, Jim (Cheryl) Barclay; sister-in-law, Terrie Barclay; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved Boston Terrier, Holly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Betty Lou Barclay; his son, Robert Barclay; grandson-in-law, Charlie Harris; and brother, John Barclay.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 1–3 p.m. at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, where a funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. A private graveside service will take place at Newark Memorial Gardens, where Mike will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Betty Lou.
