Michael Gene McNerney, 66, of Newark, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at his home. He was born March 18, 1958 in Zanesville to the late Lewis and Joyce (Shreve) McNerney.

Michael was Praise and Worship Leader at Victory Assembly Worship Center. He had a way of connecting with the children at church where he was known as "Unky Mike". Mike was a man of many talents, but his favorite was singing. He could always be heard singing Gospel music.

He is survived by his wife of five years, Eden; daughter, Molly Salvador; son, Eric (Shilo) McNerney; siblings, Debra (Steve) Robinson, Deidre (Kevin) Cates, Donald (Kelly) McNerney and Peggy (Bill) Eckenrode; aunt, Wilma Wolfe; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home or directly to Michael's wife, Eden.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 2-4 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating. A graveside service will follow at Wilson Cemetery.
