Michelle Kay Compton, 57, of Newark, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born June 11, 1969, in Newark, to the late Carl and Sandra (Lees) Compton.

Michelle dedicated her life to caring for others, both through her work at ViaQuest and in her everyday life. She never met a stranger and had a genuine gift for making others feel welcomed and loved. Michelle was a devoted Memaw who cherished her grandchildren and was a true dog lover. Her caring heart, kind spirit, and love for those around her will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Josh (Tammy Whitis) Compton; grandchildren "grandtoddlers", Myles and Mayzie Compton; brother, Carl (Patti) Compton; nephew, Carl “T.J.” Compton; cousin, Autumn Norman who was like a sister she helped raise; lifelong friend and “sister,” Valerie Franklin; four-legged companion, Eddy Compton; and Darlena.

In addition to her parents, Michelle was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Tanner Compton.

Memorial contributions may be made in Michelle’s memory to the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

No funeral services will be held.
