Obituary

A funeral service for Mildred Arlene Banks will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 10th, 2025 at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark with Minister Moses Hamilton officiating. Burial will be held at Rocky Fork Church of Christ cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mildred Banks, age 86, passed away from this life on October 5th 2025 at The Laurels of Heath, Ohio following a long illness.

Mildred was born on August 28,1939 in Newark, Ohio to the late Clyde and Ruth (Fulton) Tucker of Newark. She was a 1957 graduate of Newark High School.

She married her sweetheart of 67 years, James Harrison Banks on April 27,1958 at the Rocky Fork Church of Christ in Newark, Ohio by Rev. Earl York. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister.

She was a member of the Rocky Fork Church of Christ in Newark, Ohio. Over the years she served as a deacon's wife, steward and devoted worker. She volunteered with Vacation Bible School and benevolent dinners. She dedicated herself to her church and family, and to any who were in need.

Mildred enjoyed her career as a Title 1 Reading Teacher for the Licking Valley School System in the Mary Ann Elementary building where she taught for over 26 years (1978-2004). She also served as a volunteer and EMT for the Mary Ann Twp. Fire Dept.

Outside of her work, she enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. She had a passion for growing plants and flowers, and also made many floral arrangements. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed good food with her family and friends.

Surviving is her husband, James H. Banks, two children, Patsy Banks and Jamie (Brenda) Banks both of Newark, seven grandchildren; TJ (Deanna) Robinson, Ashley McCoy (Robinson), Justin (Katie) Gentry, Valarie (Nathan) Rhinehart, Aaron (Victoria) Banks, Taylor A. Banks, Emily (Kyzer) Valentine, five great grandchildren; Maddie, Kayden, Kyra, Winter, and Violet, and many nieces and nephews. One brother, Joseph (Violet) Tucker, two sisters Helen (Charles) Halblaub, and Marie (Charles) Keller all of Newark.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy J. Banks of Newark, daughter Christina L. Robinson (Banks), and son-in-law Timothy Robinson both of Heath, and sisters Inez Jenkins, Eunice Billman, and Alma Larason.
