Otis Eugene McCloud, 82 of Newark passed away on August 28, 2026 at Altercare Somerset. He was born on October 4, 1943 in Newark, OH to the late Diotis and Margie (Phillips) McCloud.

Otis was a self-employed builder and carpenter who took great pride in his work. Over the years, he built many homes. He was one of the founding members of Cranberry Marsh Bass Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in bass fishing, earning many trophies throughout his years of competition. He also enjoyed archery, hunting, was a skilled marksman and a gifted artist.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Violet Marie (Lacy) McCloud; sons, Mark (Donna Stalter) McCloud and Wesley (C. Mallory Harris) McCloud; grandchildren, Taylor (Aric) Adams and Lauryn Hart; sisters, Cynthia Cross and Judy (John) Morehouse; adopted son, Brian Casto; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant son, Michael McCloud.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Craig Burdick officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.
