Patricia Jean McAlister

Patricia Jean McAlister, 89, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of Kent, Ohio, passed away on July 25th at her home. She was born on December 21,1934 in Kent to the late Harry Webster and Olive Irene (Ankeny) Stark of Kent, Ohio.

Patricia was a devoted wife and mother who loved making their home the center of her life. She dearly loved her husband Wayne, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She enjoyed decorating and was known for her delicious cookies. She was an animal lover and was gifted with an artistic ability, creating hand embroidered items and gifts.

She is survived by her children, Pamela McAlister Groomes, Beth McAlister Spangler, and Len (Anita) McAlister; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and sister-in-laws, Karen Barnes and Janet McAlister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wayne McAlister; and her sisters, Agnes Lovell and Lois Powell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cooperrider-Kent Bog State Nature Preserve in Kent Ohio. Patricia grew up on the Stark family farm that is now preserved by the State of Ohio for its importance as an endangered natural area and is a relic of the ice age. The date for the Celebration of Life will be forthcoming.
