Patricia 'Elain' Summers, of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2025. Elain was born on July 13, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, and lived a life marked by faith, love, resilience, and devotion to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Bond, and her mother, Catherine 'Kitty' Bond, and by her sisters, Terry Bond, Stephanie Bond, and Laura Clark.

Elain is survived by her son, Bryan Duplantis (wife, Meghan) of Nashville, TN; her daughter, Amy Smith (husband, Shane) of Brighton, TN; her stepdaughter, Shelley Summers-Karn (husband, Mike) of Austin, TX. She is also lovingly remembered by someone who was like a son to her, Cody Miller (wife, Julie) of Columbus, OH.

Her cherished grandchildren are Alyssa Wade and McKenna Wade of Nashville, TN; Abby (Austin) Smith and Maxwell Smith of Brighton, TN. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Holton (husband, Jeff) of Eudora, KS, and her brother, Mike Bond (wife, Ammy) of Newark, OH, along with many dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.

Elain maintained a keen awareness of social challenges and dedicated herself to championing justice and equality. Her commitment to civic involvement extended to volunteering at local election polling stations and actively participating in state and national issues. She also cherished her time volunteering at the Wellness Center at Licking Memorial Hospital, always eager to make a positive difference through service.

Elain never met a stranger. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness. Elain will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and enduring love for her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elain's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a place very special to her heart.
