Obituary

Peggy M. Roberts, 90, passed away on January 28, 2026 after an extended illness. Peggy was born on April 16, 1935 to the late James and Belva Mercer in Pageton, West Virginia. She moved to Heath in 1958 with her husband George and has been a part of Licking County ever since.

Peggy was a compassionate and caring person who spent her entire life serving others. She was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, with a Master's Degree in Education. She spent her entire professional career in education with the Lakewood School District, serving as a Reading Specialist at Hebron Elementary School for many years and ending her career as the Principal of Lakewood Intermediate School. After her retirement in 2000, she spent many years as a volunteer for Hospice of Central Ohio. She was a loving and doting mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was a charter and long-time member of the Heath United Methodist Church, and more recently has worshiped at the Heath Church of Christ for many years. Peggy enjoyed attending any and all activities of her children and grandchildren. She was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and watched and rooted for them whenever she could and has remained a loyal Heath Bulldog.

Peggy is survived by her children Ann (Bret) Clippinger and Jim (Tammy) Roberts, her grandchildren Aaron (Kelsey Dobyns) Roberts, Kelly (Jordan) Tuttle, Elizabeth (Tyler) Bruney, and Michelle (Hunter Roy) Clippinger. She has three great-grandchildren, Lily Tuttle, Jasper Tuttle, and Ezra Bruney. She is also survived by four sisters Rosemary Davis, Rebecca Lawton, Margaret Mercer Tice, and Karen Mercer. In addition to her parents and her stepmother Emma Mercer, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband E. George Roberts, who passed away in 1977, and her brother James Mercer.

Family and friends can call at the Heath Church of Christ (1331 Chapel Way) in the Fireside Room on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Jordan Tuttle officiating. A private graveside service will occur at a later date.
The family very much appreciates the loving care Peggy received at The Inn at Chapel Grove and from Hospice of Central Ohio. Donations can be made in Peggy's memory to Heath Church of Christ or Hospice of Central Ohio.
