Phillip Whistine of Heath, Ohio went home to be with our lord and savior on September 18, 2024.

Phil was born on December 4, 1945 to Troy Jack and Helen Whistine. Phil was the oldest of 10 children and raised in Johnson City, Tennessee. Phil met the love of his life Shirley Kelly in 1964 and they were married April 16, 1966. Phil and Shirley were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Kelly (Todd) Ault and Melissa (Jason) Compton. Phil was an amazing girl dad and an even more amazing papaw to Jay (Jessica) Jones, Kaylissa (Andrew) Smith and Gray (Kristen) Ault. Phil was also blessed with 4 great-granddaughters, Aleyia, Lydia, Emilia and Olivia (his tumbleweed) Smith who lit up his world. Phil was also survived by his brother Pete and sister Ginny.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Bill, Bud, David and T-Roy and his sisters Becky, Jane and Suzie.

Phil worked as a meat cutter until his back injury but was known through and through as a family man. Phil also loved his two dogs Maggie and Missy. While our hearts mourn this loss, we are so grateful for the blessing we had with Phil and have peace knowing we will see him again in Heaven.

Calling hours will be held from 5-6:30pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Celebration of Life will follow at 6:30pm with Pastor David Linn officiating.
