Phyllis "Marlene" Waters, 89, of Newark, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center. She was born May 5, 1936 in Newark to the late Marion and Sadie (Lovell) Beaumont.

Marlene devoted more than 20 years of compassionate service as a nurse's aide at Newark Health Care. She had a truly selfless spirit, always placing the needs of others before her own. Known for her warm smile and gentle heart, everyone she met considered her a sweetheart who made them feel welcome and cared for.

She found joy in traveling to Walt Disney World, where she especially loved the thrill of riding roller coasters. A talented crocheter, Marlene took pride in creating beautiful doilies by hand. Above all, her family meant the world to her. She cherished every moment spent together and surrounded them with her unwavering love.

She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Nelson E. Waters; children, David Waters, Sandy Voorhies, Glenn (Karyn) Waters and Trisa Waters; grandchildren, David Jr., Devon, Katie, Samantha, Kelly, Kendra, Melissa and Glenn II; eight great grandchildren; and nephews, Terry, Jeff and Scott Davis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandsons, Jon Luk and Zachary; daughter-in-law, Jodie; son-in-law, John; and sister, Maxine Davis.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Marlene to Hospice of Central Ohio.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 5-7 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.
