Raymond "Gene" Eugene Shell

A funeral service for Raymond "Gene" Eugene Shell, 79, of Heath, OH, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, OH.

Gene passed away September 13, 2025, at his residence. He was born November 5, 1945, in Hebron, OH, to the late Robert and Luella Mae (Shell) Hasson.

Gene graduated from Lakewood High School. He was a distinguished Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States Army 4th Infantry Division. In addition to owning and operating Heath Car Care, Gene maintained memberships with several organizations, including St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, honorary member of Purple Heart Chapter 840, DAV, and American Legion Post 85. Gene took great pleasure in spending time with his family and friends, golfing, watching sports, having a passion for food and cooking, times spent at the Trout Club, and socializing at the American Legion with his best friend Dan.

He is survived by his son, Clay (Dorinda) Shell; granddaughters, Aspen Shell and Gracelynn Hupp; great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Ivory Zimmerman; 2 aunts, and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (McCann) Shell, and son, Christopher Michael Shell.
