Rhoda Justine (Peck) Nichols, age 92, of Newark, passed away at her home Friday, April 4, 2025. She was born in Newark, Ohio on December 26, 1932, to the late Craig and Alice (Hannah) Peck, Sr.

Before graduating from Toboso High School in 1952, Rhoda raised and showed steers for 4H, one of which would become a Grand Champion. She was a member of the Rocky Fork Church of God for over 70 years where she was a Sunday School teacher and Junior Church leader. Rhoda had a passion for working with toddlers and preschool aged children as evidenced not only in her years of service as a Sunday School teacher, but also in her 20 years as a teacher at the Peter Pan Day Care.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Arthur L. Nichols; daughters, Cindy (Wade) Wetzel and Pam (Tim) Hinerman; grandchildren, Kyndra (Derrick) Waites, Caleb (Ashley) Wetzel, Kara (Steve) Wamack, Logan (Chelsea) Markert, and Grant (Kate) Markert; great-grandchildren, Claire and Carter Waites, Emery and Whitley Wetzel, Ansley Wamack, Levi and Lainey Markert; siblings, Lawrence Peck, Patricia (John) Thompson, and Linda Haught.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John Peck, Craig Peck, Jr, Elizabeth Busby, Joanne Streit, Mary Wills, Barbara Peck, and Connie Bush.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Gail and her team at Hospice of Central Ohio for the compassionate care given to Rhoda.

Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm Thursday, April 10, 2025, with a 12pm funeral service at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st, St. Newark, Ohio 43055. A graveside service will take place immediately following the funeral at Hanover Cemetery.
