Richard E. Brown, 85, of Newark, OH passed away on October 6, 2025. He was born on June 28, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, MO to the late Albert Oliver and Eleanor Elizabeth (Joerns) Brown.

Berta Brown, ninety of Newark, OH passed away on February 18, 2025. She was born August 18, 1934, in Bavaria, Germany to the late Georg and Margarit (Distler) Reichardt.

Richard and Berta were married on May 15, 1960, in Jackson, MO

Berta (Reichardt) Brown and Richard Brown, residents of Newark, Ohio, passed away, just months apart, after 65 years of marriage. Their story was one of devotion, courage, and enduring partnership – a bond that will live in the hearts of all who knew them.

Together, they built a home in Southeast Missouri before transferring to Central Ohio with Dow Chemical. They raised a family, faced every challenge side by side, and were true partners in every sense. Berta was outgoing and full of life – always ready to welcome others with open arms. Richard was steady and reserved, with a kind heart and gentle humor.

They were wonderful parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents – the foundation and heart of their family. Their legacy is one of love, loyalty, and quiet strength.

They are survived by their loving family; son, Ken Brown, daughter, Laura (Joseph) Rucci, daughter-in-law, Diana Brown, Grandson, Taylor (Kristen) Brown, Great-grandson, Richard Brown, Great Granddaughter, Amelia Brown, Grandson, Evan (Sara) Brown, Great Grandson, Natan Brown, Great Grandson Gideon Brown, Granddaughter, Abby (Matthew) Schuster, Great Grandson, Benjamin Schuster, Great Granddaughter Myra Schuster, Granddaughter Pippy Brown, Granddaughter Klaire Brown, British Grandson, Sean (Chelsea) Dale and adopted Granddaughter, Emma Commiskey, Brother Ed (Sharon) Brown, Sister Donna Volkerding and many nieces, nephews and dear friends who will carry their memory forward with gratitude and pride.

In addition to their parents, Richard and Berta were preceded in death by their son, Richard Edwin Brown, Richard's siblings, Bradley Al Brown and Sandra Elaine Brown. Berta's siblings; Manfred (Rosey) Reichardt, Heinz (Troutle) Reichardt, Ella (Fritz) Schumm and dear niece Brigitte.

A celebration of life for Berta and Richard will take place on October 26th from 1-3PM at Brucker and Kishler funeral home, where their family invites friends to gather and share memories of two remarkable lives lived as one.
