It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Richard "Dick" Charles Teesdale, who left us peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2025, in Newark, Ohio. He was born on March 13, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and throughout his life touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Dick was a devoted husband, father, brother, a cherished friend, respected member of the community, and a devoted Airman, having served in the United States Air Force (USAF) under the callsign, "Fly Boy Dick". He is survived by his loving family: son Richard Charles Teesdale Jr. (USAF, Retired Master Sergeant), daughter Denise Lynn Teesdale, son Howard Allan Teesdale (USAF, Retired Chief Master Sergeant), and his grandchildren Maximilian and Jessica.  He is the last of five siblings from a generation of servants who helped set the best example of what a fulfilling life entails.

He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Rose Teesdale and grandson Jimmy.

Throughout his life, Dick exemplified compassion, generosity, and service, having served during the post Korean War era and Vietnam War as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist and Survival Evasion Resistance Escape (SERE) specialist.  He retired with honors after more than 20 years and continued to serve and support the military as an active member in the American Legion in Millersport. Those who knew Dick will remember his military service, unwavering work ethic, and his belief that giving, rather than receiving, is one of life's greatest callings. Beyond his service, Dick found joy in music, the companionship of his pets, and time spent boating, camping, and traveling. His legacy will live on through the love and memories shared by all who had the privilege to know him.

A Celebration of Life in his honor will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 1 pm, at the Newark Fraternal Order of Eagles #387, 52 Forry Street, in Newark. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share their memories. Burial with full military honors will follow the next morning, Monday, October 27, 2025, at 11 am, at Millersport Cemetery, 2380 Mill Street, Millersport.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive, Southwest, Heath, Ohio 43056. Envelopes will be available at his Celebration of Life event.

Though he will be dearly missed, Dick's love, service, and spirt will live on in all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
