Richard “Dickie” Allen Leighton

A funeral service for Richard “Dickie” Allen Leighton, 60, of Newark, OH, will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Hawkins officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Dickie passed away May 3, 2026, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. He was born September 28, 1965, in Newark, OH, to the late Craig Arthur Leighton, Sr. and Margaret (Andrews) Leighton.

Dickie was a proud Army veteran who served during Desert Storm. He was self-employed in HVAC, where he built lasting friendships over the years. He also formed many close bonds through his more than 25 years with the Stebelton Music Pool League. Richard enjoyed riding his trike and spending time with his beloved big dog, Stella. He courageously fought a difficult seven-year battle with throat cancer.

Dickie is survived by his sister, Brenda (Duane) Snow; nephews, Dustin and Ryan Snow; great-nieces, Mia Snow, and his beloved dog, Stella.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Arthur, Jr.
