Ricky “Rick” Lee Flowers, 70, long time resident of Newark, passed away at home on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was surrounded by his family.

Rick was a loving, kind, and big kid at heart. He retired from Spectrum Cable in 2019. He loved going to Lake Erie on his boat to fish for Walleye. Rick was a tremendous athlete and still holds the record at Newark High School for all-time leading point scorer in track. He qualified for the state track meet his sophomore, junior and senior years. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes and UCONN ladies basketball team.

Rick is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol; brother, Jeff (Jane) Flowers of Newark; children, Donald and Amy of Texas, Jessica (Jamey) of Newark, Lisa (Butch) of Florida and Zaceri (Cynthia) of Arkansas; 15 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and June Flowers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Humane Society and/or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 1-2 pm at the Community Wesleyan Church, 161 Myrtle Ave., Newark, 43055 where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm.
