Robert Lee Athey, age 81, of Newark, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at his home.

He was born in Newark on September 26, 1942, to the late Charles and Mary (Cotterman) Athey.

Robert retired from Owens Corning as a forklift operator after 33 years. He was a talented mechanic and body man who loved muscle cars, going to car shows, building models, fishing, bowling, enjoying birds and nature.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dianna Athey; daughter, Christina Minton; grandchildren, James (Sam) Weeks, Kyle Minton, and Kody Minton; great- grandchildren, Maverick and Declan; sisters-in-law, Kathy Athey and Margret Athey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward (Pat) Athey, Roland Athey, and Terry Athey; son-in-law, Randy Minton.

In accordance with Robert's wishes, no services will be held.
