Robert "Bob" N. Smith, 87 of Newark passed away on November 24, 2024 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 10, 1936 in Newark, OH to the late W. Ross and Audrey L. (Collins) Smith.

Bob served honorably in the Ohio National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 85. He was an original member of the Licking Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a truck driver and farmer. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed family get-togethers.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Hawk; nieces, Cathi (Dave Barrett) Inman and Mindy (David) Maines; great-nephews, Andy, Alex and Ethan Hawk and Dylan (Chelsie) Maines; 3 great-great-nephews and 1 great-great-niece; and special friend, Joe Mickey.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Smith; brother-in-law, Lloyd Hawk; and nephews, David Hawk and Mike Inman.

The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will be held at 11am with Pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow at Jacksontown Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
