Ronald Jay Careins, age 72, of Zanesville, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on April 25, 1953, to the late Perl E. and Sarah J. (Yoho) Careins, Sr.

Ron was a hard worker who loved his family and enjoyed making memories with them over the years. He was a good carpenter in his early years. He was a jolly feller who was always teasing someone whether he knew them or not.

He is survived by his children, Joshua Jay Careins and Amanda Ann (Brady) Hamilton; grandchildren, Flint Eli, Fisher Jay, Forest Lee, Frost Iam, and Hunter Ann; siblings, Billy K. (Amista) Careins, Linda S. Gause, Sandra M. (Randy) Murphy, C. Jane (George) Lahmon, and Sarah B. (Bill) Metcalf; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Twila Ann (Hatch) Careins, step-father, Doug Patch; siblings, Perl E. Careins, Jr., George A. Careins, Charles R. Careins, and Anita K. Clark.

He will be missed by all who loved him! We are filled with hope that he is in Heaven without any more pain, and reunited with his wife, Twila.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, with a 12 p.m. funeral service at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st, St. Newark, Ohio 43055. A graveside service at Fredonia Cemetery will take place immediately following the funeral service, Pastor Josh Hamilton officiating.
