Rose F. Cost, 94, of Newark, died Friday, March 15, 2024 at The Inn at Chapel Grove. She was born March 19, 1929 in Licking County to the late Larry Mariani and Pauline C. Ake.
Rose was an educator for 21 years in Licking County as an instructor at the Central Ohio Technical College in the office of Administration Technology from 1977-1996 and formerly as a teacher at the Licking County Vocational School from 1975-1977. Rose retired from teaching on August 31, 1996. She was a member of the Granville Centenary Methodist Church, The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Ohio Education Association, Central Ohio Teachers Association, National Business Education Association, Ohio Business Teachers Association, American Vocational Association, and Phi Delta Kappa. Rose also served as a historian and secretary of Delta Pi Epsilon, RHO Chapter, secretary of the Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges, and Sons of Italy- Rinascimento Lodge.
Rose is survived by her son, William L. "Bill" (Karen) Cost Jr.; daughter, Roseann E. (Bill) Schaller; grandchildren, Cara (Jesse) Daniels, Patrick (Samantha) Cost, and Nathan, Reid, and Grant Schaller and their families; great grandchildren, Megan, Casey, Felicity, Opal, and Liam; and sister, Mary Ann Ake.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Cost Sr.; great grandson, Alex Daniels; sister, Eleanor (Joe) Dickinson; brother, James E. Mariani; and step father, Robert Ake.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rose to Hospice of Central Ohio and/or FirstLight Home Care.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 11-1 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tim Carr officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
