Ruby Marie Fowler, 90 of Newark passed away on April 13, 2026 at the Selma Markowitz Center. She was born on September 24, 1935 in Arnaudville, LA to the late Willie and Marie (Knott) Myers.

Ruby was a member of Christian Life Center where she was a Sunday school teacher. She had previously worked as an operator for Newark Telephone Company, Highwater Orchard, Gloria Hoover’s Hetuck cookies and was a Christian school teacher at Soul’s Harbor. She enjoyed reading the Bible, People magazine, yardwork, gardening and playing cornhole. She married Lowell T. Fowler on October 21, 1956 in Leonville, LA.

She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Lowell T. Fowler; children, Douglas E. Fowler, Debra M. (Troy) Graham and David L. (Margitta) Fowler; grandchildren, Danielle Fowler, Matthew Tanner and Jessica (Makenzi Peyton) Tanner; sisters-in-law, Shirley Priest, Bonnie (Weldon) Dudley and Armecia Myers; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Emile Myers, Ashton Myers, Antoine Myers, Weston Myers, Willie Myers, Milton Myers, Hazel Mouton, Gloria “Ezar” Mouton and Joyce Trahan.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark and one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Ensey officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
