Ruth Joan Roth, 99, of Newark, died Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Hearth Brook Assisted Living. She was born January 17, 1927 in Painesville, OH to the late Joseph and Minnie (Patterson) Dallner.
Ruth worked as a floral designer for Pounds Florist for more than 15 years, where she shared her creativity and talent with countless customers. Though naturally reserved, those who had the privilege of knowing Ruth were drawn to her kind heart, gentle nature, and genuine warmth.
A fiercely independent woman, Ruth continued to live on her own until the age of 98, a testament to her strength and determination. She was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book in hand, and she faithfully cheered on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Ruth will be remembered for her quiet grace, unwavering independence, and the love she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Helen Foreman, Janet (Janet Emery) Black and Shirley Campbell, Patty (Roger) Holcombe; grandchildren, Kelly, Ricky (Amanda), Janette, and Shannon Noel; great grandchildren, Kyle (Chelsea), Kaylee, Kendall, Laney, Cierra, Zack and Mercedes Noel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Palmer Black and brother, Richard Dallner.
