Ruth Irene Shaw, 99, of Newark, died Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Altercare Newark North. She was born November 5, 1926 in Fredericktown, OH to the late Allen and Eva (Swingle) Braddock.

Ruth was a graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1945. She was a devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she faithfully served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Educational Task Leader. In recent years, she attended Faith Church. Ruth was a member of Eastern Star #551 and found great joy in traveling through her Freedom Years membership and spending peaceful time walking at Dawes Arboretum.

She is survived by her sons, Doug (Ginger) Shaw and Gail (Lisa) Shaw; five grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Edward Shaw; brothers, Donald and Jack Braddock; and sister, Dorothy (Horace) Houck.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Central Ohio and friend and care giver, Brandy Bishop for the care they provided to Ruth.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ruth to the American Diabetes Association and/or Faith Church.

Visitation will be held Monday January 19, 2026 from 4-6 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
