Sally Lou Brewster

A funeral service for Sally Lou Brewster, 86, of Johnstown, OH, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating and Pastor Greg Smith assisting. Burial will follow at Fredonia Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Sally passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born February 10, 1939, in Braeholm, WV, to the late James A. and Rose (Ross) Standifur.

Sally was a retired registered nurse who dedicated her life to caring for others with compassion and skill. She was a longtime and faithful member of Fredonia Baptist Church, where she found strength in her faith and community. Above all else, Sally loved her family dearly and cherished the time spent with them. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and crafts, finding joy in both simple pleasures and creative pursuits. Among her many professional achievements, she was a highly respected nurse and was honored with both the Spirit of Nursing Award and the Florence Nightingale Award, reflecting her lifelong commitment to excellence in patient care.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jerry B. Brewster, whom she married on October 21, 1961; children, Kelly Brewster Knapp, David Brewster, Sandra Brewster Hatley, and James (Tracy) Brewster; grandchildren, Jordan (Danyel) Knapp, Dustin (Stacie) Knapp, Stephanie (Chas) Stevens, Dane (Corey) Knapp, Nicholas Hatley, Kendra (Ben) Eaton, Lindsay (Emmanuel Gabriel) Hatley, Macie (Trey) McArthur, Elijah Brewster, and Evan Brewster; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Diana (Ray) Berry and Rosemary (Paul) Balgavy, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Aidan Neiberline; son-in-law, Craig Knapp; brother, Tom Standifur, and sister, Peggy Heatherman.

In lieu of flowers, contributions will be made to the Fredonia Baptist Church women's ministry.
