Sandra M. Saunders, 79 of Newark passed away on May 19, 2025 at the Inn at Sharon Brooke. She was born on April 26, 1946 in Houston, TX to the late Robert E. and May Ola (Neal) Vaughan.

Sandra enjoyed playing cards, bingo, puzzles, cooking and sewing. She loved watching her son and grandson play baseball and her granddaughter dance and cheer.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, James S. Saunders whom she married October 13, 1962; son, James D. (Tiffany) Saunders; two grandchildren, Elle and Cale Saunders; brothers, Wilbert (Theena) Vick and C.V. (Ann) Vick; sister-in-law, Carole Vaughan; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lu Vaughan and Jessie Loftin.

The family will receive friends from 4-7pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. A private family graveside service will be held at Newark Memorial Gardens.
