Sherry Elizabeth Taylor, 77, of Newark, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Friday, November 22, 2024 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born January 15, 1947 in Lebanon Junction, KY to the late James and Louise (Payne) Brown Sr.

Sherry loved nothing more than being Nanny and cherished every moment spent with her family, who meant the world to her. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was the heart of her family, always putting their needs first. Sherry was also an active member of her church, where her strong faith was an important part of her life. She lived with kindness and devotion, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will always be remembered.

She is survived by her children, John (Maryann) Powell Jr. and Shelly (Tom) Blankenship; grandchildren, Samantha (Matt), Kim, Brandon (Allison), Bryan, Brendan and Nicholle (Caleb); great grandchildren, Audrey, Aria, Aiden, Carter, Evelyn, Coen, Peyton and one on the way; sisters, Patty (Keith) Shoults and Gale Heft, brother, Christopher Heft III; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Taylor; and brother, Jim Brown.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 6-8 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where visitation will also be Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 11:00am-12:00pm. A funeral service will follow visitation Tuesday at 12:00 pm with Pastor Tim Carr officiating.
