Shirlee Ann Rechel

A Celebration of Life for Shirlee Ann Rechel, 90, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, OH, with Dave Mason officiating.

Shirlee passed away October 24, 2025, at Arlington Care Center. She was born February 25, 1935, in Reading, PA, to the late Richard Dunlap and Fern May (Redcay) Children.

Shirlee worked for Smyth Manufacturing. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ for many years.  She taught Sunday school and loved volunteering to teach Bible school each summer.  While there, she also served on the church board.  Her hobbies included sewing, painting, and making crafts.  She loved the seasons and enjoyed being in nature, taking walks, tending to her flowers, and simply being outside watching the animals.  She also loved to cook and bake and was most known for her famous potato salad and oatmeal cookies at Christmas time. Shirlee loved being with her children and family. Her favorite times were celebrating all the holidays and birthdays together.  She was full of the joy of the Lord and loved Jesus with all her heart.  She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, caring ways, and loving heart and she will be deeply missed by all who love her.

She is survived by her children; son, Steven Rechel (Cheryl); daughters, Pamela Hess (Robert), Kathleen Clay (Scott), Sharon Risen (Aaron), Laura Tidball (Jeremy); ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Crase, Carol Irwin Moyal (Gilbert) and Janine Ober, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Clark Rechel, and stepfather, Richard Children.
