Thelma Maxine "Boots" Anderson: A Life Remembered
Thelma Maxine "Boots" Anderson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at The Inn at Chapel Grove. Born on June 9, 1926, in Newark, to Claude and Hazel (Jones) Wilson, Boots' journey through 97 remarkable years left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
In 1945, at the age of 19, Boots traveled alone to San Francisco, a testament to her adventurous spirit. There, she united in marriage with her childhood sweetheart, William "Bill" Anderson, who was then serving in the United States Navy during World War II. Married by a justice of the peace, this marked the beginning of a lifelong love story.
Boots' professional life was marked by compassion serving as a heart technician at Licking Memorial Hospital. Boots was also an accomplished seamstress, known for her skillful hands that crafted cheerleading skirts for Licking Valley High School in the 60's. Her sewing was not just a craft but a way to connect and contribute to her community.
Boots found joy in gardening and all of nature, a reflection of her inner serenity. Equally deep was her devotion to spiritual growth; as a lifelong student of religion, she read the Bible daily, striving for a profound understanding of her faith. Her kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impact.
Boots' memory is cherished by her loving children, Scott (Marcia) Anderson, Skip (Gayle) Anderson, Crickett (Gary) Wheeler, and Patty (Lonnie) Taylor; her 12 grandchildren; and her 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 44 years, Bill Anderson; second husband, Andy Richmer; sister, Virginia Dougherty; and brother-in-law, Doc Dougherty.
Private visitation for the family and close friends will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 12-1 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Wilson Cemetery.
