Timothy Richard Carr

A funeral service for Timothy Richard Carr, 62, of Newark, OH, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Northside Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike O'Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at the church, 595 Goosepond Rd. Newark, OH, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Tim passed away April 28, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital after complications associated with his battle with cancer. He was born June 15, 1962, in Columbus, OH, to the late James Earl and Susan (Fairchild) Carr.

Tim graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Journalism and from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Religious Education. Tim started his ministry at First Baptist of Gahanna before moving to Jersey Baptist Church. He has been a pastor at Northside Baptist Church since September 1995, first as the youth pastor and then as Senior Pastor since 2004. He has also served on the Newark City Schools Board since 2008 and the C-TEC board since 2012.

He loved serving others and the Lord through various ministries including Upward Basketball, Youth Camp at Seneca Lake, and Super Summer of Ohio. He also loved watching and supporting his children in whatever they did. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and big supporter of all things Newark City Schools. Tim never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything. He used every interaction with others as an opportunity to connect and was intentional in sharing the love of Jesus.

He is survived by his wife, Lora (Vandenbark) Carr; children, Andrew and Allyson Carr; brother, Ted (Carla) Carr; brother-in-law: Jay Vandenbark; sister-in-law: Becky (Lee) Watson; nieces and nephews, Lauren (Mike) Seitz, Daniel Carr, Brooke (Zach) Martin and Mitchell Craddock; great-niece and nephew, Teagan and Jude Seitz; mother-in-law, Sally Vandenbark and many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Lester Vandenbark.
