Tracy E. Gentry Jr., 89, of Newark, died Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Center. He was born April 27, 1936 in Newark to the late Tracy and Anna (Glaunsinger) Gentry.

After graduating from Newark High School, Tracy joined the Army National Guard where he also worked at the Newark Armory for 32 years. He retired in 1986 as a CW3. After retirement he loved working part time at a local golf course for many years prior to health issues. Tracy golfed in two leagues at that course. He loved being a volunteer at Christ United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. He also volunteered at the Midland Theater and at Muirfield Golf Course during the Memorial Tournament for 20 years. Tracy enjoyed life and was the best husband, dad, grandpa, neighbor and friend and he will be missed.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Arlene; children, Tim (Brenda) Gentry, Tammy (Bret Crane) Gentry both of Newark, Michael (Renee) Gentry of South Carolina and Rhonda (Bill) Thomas of North Carolina; grandchildren, Evan (Emily) Gentry and Paige (Drew) Noble; great granddaughter, Cora; sister, Margarette; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Carolyn and Edna Mae.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Tracy to Hospice of Central Ohio.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 11:00 am- 1:00 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N, 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Cory Campbell officiating. A private graveside service will be held following the funeral.
