It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia Ann (Morrow) Spellman, a cherished sister, aunt, stepmother and friend. Ginny peacefully departed this world on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the age of 83. She was born on July 26, 1942, in Newark, Ohio.

A 7th-generation native of Hebron, OH she was the devoted daughter of David and Mildred Morrow. Ginny was a 1960 graduate of Lakewood High School as part of the first graduating class there. During her school years at Hebron and Lakewood she was an active member of the marching and concert bands. After completing business school in Newark she was employed by the Ohio Power Company (AEP) and was a trusted employee for 20 years at Holophane.

With her husband of 38 years, John Spellman, she completed a two-year assignment to Pakistan as a part of AEP's program with US Aid. They were happy to return to their Ohio roots in 1985 where they enjoyed a large community of friends. Ginny was a member of Eastern Star; a lifetime member of Hebron Methodist Church; attended Second Presbyterian Church, Newark; and was a devoted fan of the OSU Buckeyes. She resided in her final years at Danbury Senior Living in Mount Vernon, OH.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John A. Spellman who passed away February 13, 2002 and her parents.

Virginia is survived by her sister Marjorie Morrow and brother-in-law Alan Freedman; her brother William Morrow and sister-in-law Carol Morrow; her stepdaughter Deena Michelle Spellman and husband Jeff Long; her treasured nephew and nieces: Joel Morrow and wife Wendy Haft Morrow and Erin Morrow; her beloved great-nephew Connar VandeVoorde and great-niece Margaret Morrow; and her only cousin Steve Cummins (Kathy Cummins) as well as her lifetime friend, Barbara (House) Merriam and many friends.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 18, 2025  from 11:00 am- 12:00 pm at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, OH. A graveside service will follow visitation at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, OH.
