Virginia "Ginny" Elaine Messina, age 62, of Newark, passed away on July 12, 2025. Ginny was born on December 29, 1962, in Newark to George C. and Julia I. (Crowley) Kaercher.

She was a 1981 Graduate of Newark Catholic and The Licking County Joint Vocational School where she studied Early Childhood Education. Ginny enjoyed painting Longaberger decorations for the baskets. She has served at Jim's Homestead and The County Seat. Ginny worked several years at Value City before it closed. Then went on as a bartender at The Dew Drop Inn before having to retire due to medical complications. She was a beautiful and sweet soul who enjoyed dancing and rock n roll in her younger healthier days. In her later years she preferred to be home relaxing with a Busch Lite over ice and a cigarette in her hand.

Ginny is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Gary M. Messina; children, Greg Kirk, Ray Kirk, Jessica (Nick) Sweeney; stepchildren, James Nelson, Shay Messina, Aaron (Billie Jo) Messina, Alesha Messina; father, George C. Kaercher; 33 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Joan (Tony) Brownlee, Jackie Maddern, Chris (Aaron) Draper, Becky (Bill) Howard; 3 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Ellen Messina; 3 brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 2 – 4 PM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, where her service will follow at 4 PM with Pastor Roger Conley officiating.
