Virginia Darlene Johns, age 82, of Newark, passed away at the Selma Markowitz Care Center Tuesday, August 18, 2026. She was born in Newark, Ohio on September 27, 1943, to the late James and Helen (Varrasso) Bush.

Virginia Loved the Lord. She enjoyed meeting people and was committed to reading her Bible and praying for those she met.

She is survived by her children, Scott Hitchcock, Phillip Johns, Harry (Kathy) Johns, Mark A. Johns, and Robert Johns; 5 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Larry) Masters, Ruth (James) Wells, Mark (Brenda) Bush, and sister-in-law, Ruby Bush; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marguerite O. Sullivan; brothers, James A. Bush and David L. Bush.

Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm Monday, August 24, 2026, with a 1pm funeral service at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st, St. Newark, Ohio 43055. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery immediately following the funeral service, Pastors Jason Harding and Mike Nethers officiating.

The family would like to express their heart-felt thank you to Newark Care and Rehab, Licking Memorial ICU and CCU, Hospice of Central Ohio, and the Mt. Vernon Church of God for the wonderful care shown for their mother.
